Transfer Banked Slalom Thredbo 2026
The Transfer Banked Slalom returns for its 12th year as one of the established fixtures of Australia’s snowboarding calendar. The snowboard-only competition sends riders through a creatively designed course of banked turns, with divisions covering young groms through to experienced riders aged over 50. Racing is followed by presentations and a major Alpine Bar afterparty, giving the event a strong social component alongside the competition itself.
- Cost: Thredbo currently lists the event as free, although competitor registration is required and closes at 9am on Thursday 3 September unless the event sells out earlier. Competitors should separately confirm any mountain or lift access requirements.

Where to stay
Transfer Banked Slalom starts early, with Saturday plate collection available from 7am and practice beginning at 9am. The program then continues through afternoon racing and into the evening presentation and afterparty, making a Thredbo base particularly useful if you want to experience both the competitive and social sides of the event.
Booking Thredbo accommodation means you can stay close to the mountain rather than planning a late drive after the après celebrations. A self-contained home or apartment can also be particularly useful for snowboard groups, providing room for boards, boots and outerwear alongside a comfortable shared space to relax before and after race day.
